How long does acupuncturist credentialing take?

What documents are required for acupuncturist credentialing?

Do acupuncturists need a CAQH profile?
Many commercial plans use CAQH ProView to collect practitioner data, but not every payer does. If a selected plan uses CAQH, the profile should be complete, supported by current documents, authorized for that plan, and reattested within CAQH’s required cycle.
Can you credential an acupuncturist with multiple insurance companies?
Yes, when the provider meets each plan’s criteria and the relevant network is accepting acupuncturists. We coordinate payer-specific applications and track them separately because approval by one plan does not determine another plan’s decision.
Do acupuncture assistants need to be credentialed with insurance companies?
Requirements depend on the state, the assistant’s legal scope, the payer, and how services are billed. Assistants are generally not enrolled as independent acupuncture practitioners unless a jurisdiction and payer recognize that provider category. We verify the applicable rules before filing.
Can you help with Medicare enrollment for acupuncturists?
We can assess Medicare-related options, but an important limitation applies: Original Medicare covers acupuncture for chronic low back pain only when furnished by a physician or other eligible practitioner, or by qualifying auxiliary personnel under the required supervision. CMS does not currently recognize acupuncturists as independently billable Medicare practitioners. Some Medicare Advantage plans may offer broader acupuncture benefits and separate network pathways.
