How long does speech-language pathologist credentialing take?
Timing depends on the payer, state, provider profile, application completeness, and network availability. Many payer processes take several weeks or months. We prepare the file, track requests, and follow up through the payer’s decision without promising a date the payer controls.
What documents are required for SLP credentialing?
Common items include an individual NPI, current state license, education and work history, professional liability coverage, tax and practice information, and a current CAQH profile when the payer uses CAQH. A payer may also request certification, references, disclosures, or additional location documents.
Do speech-language pathologists need a CAQH profile?
Many commercial health plans use CAQH ProView, but not every payer does. When it is required, the profile should be complete, consistent with the application, supported by current documents, and reattested on CAQH’s schedule.
Can you credential an SLP with multiple insurance companies?
Yes. We can coordinate applications across selected commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid programs, subject to each plan’s network status and participation criteria. Every payer still makes its own credentialing and contracting decision.
Do speech-language pathology assistants need to be credentialed with insurance companies?
SLPA rules vary significantly by state, payer, and supervision arrangement. Medicare Part B does not separately reimburse services furnished by SLP assistants. Commercial and Medicaid requirements must be checked against the applicable contract and state scope-of-practice rules.
Can you help with Medicare enrollment for speech-language pathologists?
Yes. We support eligible SLPs and practices with NPI review, PECOS enrollment, reassignment when applicable, EFT documentation, and status follow-up. SLPs providing covered outpatient Part B services in private-practice settings generally must enroll and bill Medicare rather than opt out.
